When it comes to traveling to India, many tourists have their concerns.  It’s a foreign land where they don’t know the language, aren’t familiar with the culture, and obviously don’t know the area very well.  Because of this, it is extremely important to book through a travel agent, only stay in 4.5+ star hotels, and ensure that your travel plans and itinerary are prepared well before your trip.  Here are some obstacles you will avoid by booking with a travel agent:

Transportation options are very limited.

While vacationing in India, the last thing you want to do is be stressed.  However, if you attempt to get your own transportation such as renting a car, scooter, or bike or attempting to coordinate you and your travel companions on public transportation, you will be in for one stressful experience!  The roads in India are very dangerous no matter the type of vehicle or transportation you are using.  It is much wiser to ensure that an experienced travel agent who knows the area very well coordinates transportation for everywhere you and your travel companions would like to go.

Meal options can be unsafe.

The food in India is absolutely outstanding and you will probably find some new favorite dishes but there are some risks travelers have to take if they don’t plan correctly.  Many of the local eateries and street markets offer plenty of food options but consuming any of these options is a huge risk for western travelers.  Some of these meals may contain ingredients that most people from the U.S. aren’t used to and some may even contain parasites.  To ensure a healthy and safe travel experience, coordinate meals throughout the entire trip with a travel agent ahead of time.

Some areas aren’t safe.

Safety is always a major concern when traveling in any foreign country.  Tourists in India, especially first time travelers, will not know the area well enough to know which areas to avoid.  Don’t just book with any travel agent, book with one who knows the area well and can help you coordinate a completely safe trip!
