Packing for Your Cruise
Published Monday, March 16th 2015Packing is often the most stressful part of your entire vacation experience. You need to ensure that you bring everything necessary while also making sure you don’t bring things that are unnecessary. Anyone who has ever traveled knows that the struggle is real.
When you’re packing for a cruise, the challenge is enhanced even more. It’s not as easy to go pick up extra socks that you forgot to pack when you’re in the middle of the ocean. Use this handy guide to help you pack for your next cruise.
What to Bring
- Clothes for every occasion
- There will be days where you’re in your bathing suit, a tee shirt, and flip-flops for most of the day. There will also be formal nights where you are required to wear upscale attire.
- Checking the itinerary for each day will help greatly when figuring out what kind of clothing to pack.
- Travel sizes of all your necessary toiletries
- You don’t want your 64 oz. bottle of shampoo from Costco taking up half of your suitcase.
- Plan for when you’re not on the ship
- When you get to one of you’re destinations make sure you have smaller travel bags such as a backpack or small duffel bag.
- Electronics
- Portable music players, cameras, video cameras, Electronic readers, and most importantly all the necessary chargers and batteries!
What not to Bring
- Too many clothes
- Cruises are different from other vacations. People always seem to over pack, not realizing you don’t need as many outfits as you might think.
- If you’re worried about running out of clothes, most ships have laundry areas where you can get your clothing clean.
- As for all prohibited items, it varies greatly by the cruise line. So, check online for each cruise line’s specific list of items that are not allowed on the ship.
*Important* You should take into account whether or not you will be flying. If you are, you need to consider your airlines policies regarding checked bags and restricted items.
